Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality and a method of psychotherapy developed by Eric Berne. He wanted this theory to use simple words so that he could share it with his patients without using specialist jargon.
The IFAT website, with which I am affiliated, presents the basic concepts: https://www.ifat-asso.org/concepts-base/

A theory only makes sense if it accurately describes its object of observation. For me, it is a resource that allows me to make assumptions about what happens during our interviews or between sessions in order to intervene or offer interpretations. It is a respectful ally to my emotional capacities, which are mobilized in your presence.
The entire community of Transactional Analysts is also committed to adapting, transforming, and sharing this applied theory to keep it alive in step with changes in our lifestyles.
